Should We Bring Our Dog To Our Wedding?

Should we bring our dog to our wedding?

Absolutely! Our pets are often just as important to your daily lives as your other family members, and sometimes form even closer bonds with us than our siblings.

Taking pets along on your wedding day appears to be growing in popularity. A few of my photographs were recently featured in a Sunday Telegraph article showcasing some canine pals having a great time at some recent weddings. As a wedding photographer, I think it’s great to see your four-legged friends groomed in their finest bow tie, walking with you down the aisle. After your ceremony, having your pets with you can make for a lovely family portrait.

Kelly and Brendon Hill, newly married at The National Gallery of Australia (whose wedding I photographed and will blog very shortly), had their Bernaise Mountain Dogs attend their ceremony in The Gallery’s Sculpture Garden. Percy (the big boy) and Ariel (the younger girl) are ultra cute! They were each around my waist height, and had beautiful thick coats (perhaps more closely resembling small bears?) These two loved the attention of Kelly and Brendon’s guests, and the photograph of Percy and Ariel having a tussle under the couple’s arch is hilarious!

Catelyne and Gary Bergin, who married at Long Reef Golf Club earlier this year (whose wedding I also photographed; blog post to follow), had their pups Kassie and Tank as their flower girl and ring bearer. Kassie and Tank stole the show as they walked in ahead of Catelyne. We produced a couple of wedding films for Catelyne and Gary (and Kassie and Tank) so they can re-live their awesome Long Reef Golf Club Wedding – their films aren’t quite ready yet, but the short clip above just goes to show how having your dogs at your wedding brings the whole family closer together on your wedding day.

If you’re looking to have your dog, cat, bunny or budgie attend your wedding, get in touch with me and I’d be happy to chat about how I can help to make this happen!
