Now that it’s winter in Sydney, I have had a little more time to create content for you guys; to blog more weddings on this website. The next wedding to share with you is Jessica and Jake’s Pasadena wedding.
I first met Jess at her friend Krystal’s wedding (a wedding that I photographed in 2018). Jess was one of Krystal’s bridesmaids. I received a lovely email one afternoon asking if I’d like to photograph Jessica and Jake’s wedding at Pasadena Sydney; which of course I was delighted to do.
Jessica and Jake’s Pasadena Wedding Day
When I met up with Jessica and Jake in the lead up to their wedding at Pasadena Sydney, I was told that their day could get a little out of control. I was warned to expect a bunch of lively groomsmen and perhaps some elaborate dance moves. Sure enough, when I arrived at Jake’s preparation, I arrived in time for the guys dressing in their wedding themes budgy smugglers and jumping in the water. After a quick dip and a drink, and a few casual photos I thought to myself “best I left before it gets crazy”. I joined the ladies at their cliff-top house down the road for Jess’ preparation.
Wedding Ceremony with a Great View across Church Point
Jessica’s and Jake held their wedding ceremony at Pasadena. It’s a great location for around 50 people. There was lovely afternoon light on the waters edge with Scotland Island in the background.
Jessica and Jake played a trick on their guests during the ceremony. They deliberately hid their wedding bands under a guest’s seat. During the nuptials, the celebrant called for the rings, only for the groomsmen to break out in a panic. This confused guests, who thought that they legitimately had misplaced the rings. The celebrant then revealed that the guests would need to help out and search for them. The guests searched their seats as one of them located the bands and delivered them to Jake under the arbour. It was an amusing reaction from the guests but a lovely way to engage them in the ceremony.
You Don’t Need to Venture from Pasadena for Photos
We had some great options for wedding photographs around Pasadena. After the ceremony, we started with a few group shots on the water’s edge and then walked past the boat ramp for a few other location portraits.
Jessica and Jake’s bridal party returned to reception to enjoy the beverages whilst we walked up to the wharf for a few more portraits. The scenery was lovely and we didn’t need to go far. There was some good variety in backdrops around the wharf, with the ocean and setting sun off in the distance.
I highly recommend shooting around the northwestern side of Pasadena to capture the old weatherboard buildings and timber wharf aesthetic.
Their Wedding Reception at Pasadena Sydney
Pasadena Sydney is a great location for wedding receptions. Jessica and Jake’s reception at Pasadena had great elements including delicious food, a fantastic backdrop on the water’s edge, and a magician that wowed the crowd with neat illusions. And Jake wasn’t wrong; when the dance floor opened the crazy dance moves came out, some showed off their budgie smugglers, and acrobatics from the timber beams.
